NAFOSTED-FWO funds vnd 1.8 billion for In vitro maturation (IVM)
Jan 07th, 2019On May 23rd, 2018 NAFOSTED of Vietnam approved funding of over VND 1.8 billion for a research project under the Vietnam-Belgium bilateral international cooperation program, abbreviated as NAFOSTED-FWO. This study will be carried out by Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan and other eminent researchers for a period of 36 months, starting from August 2018 to August of 2021. The objective of the research is to optimize the In Vitro Maturation technique (IVM) and to reduce the cost of Assisted reproductive technique. Patients with Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) who participated in the research project will undergo a cycle of IVM at IVFMD, My Duc Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) as well as at Uzbrussel (Brussels, Belgium). IVM technique is often used in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCO / PCOS) or in patients with good ovarian reserve. These patients may experience Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) if having treatment with routine assisted reproductive techniques. Therefore, IVM is considered a patient-friendly method of stimulating ovaries with minimal doses and reducing the risk of Ovarian hyperstimulation. After oocyte retrieval, the cumulus-oocyte complex is cultured in a "standard oocyte maturation system”.
NAFOSTED Foundation mission is to create a favorable research environment that meets international standards
