State of the ART in IVM - ASPIRE Masterclass 2018 was held in Ho Chi Minh city

The 5th ASPIRE Masterclass on In-vitro maturation (IVM) of oocytes to be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from the September 27th to 29th, 2018. Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan of My Duc Hospital was the Chair of this Masterclass. The contents including demonstrations and discussions aims to cover the latest developments of IVM therapy in human. Theoretical and practical overview of clinical and embryological aspects were discussed. The course is designed for gynecologists and embryologists considering to implement IVM as an alternative technique for different groups of patients, such as PCOS, oncofertility, and good ovarian-reserve IVF patients. On the third day, the full agenda included 17 oral presentations on the first 2 days and a live IVM Workshop that focused on live demos of oocyte pick-ups, lab preparation, handling immature oocytes and culture system of IVFMD, My Duc Hospital.
While IVM is still considered a research technique for niche indications in Europe and the USA, there are important promoter centers in Vietnam, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Korea, and Japan where significant research has been acquired over the years. ASPIRE, the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction, was founded in 2001 by Bruno Lunenfeld and PC Wong to improve knowledge and awareness of reproductive and infertility-related services, with the ultimate aim of improving the quality of patient care.
